I officially gave up on one of my New Year's resolutions today. I resolved to read more intentionally; to focus on my list of books for 2018. I even laid out a plan for my books on my Goodreads page.
And now here we are, barely a month into 2018, with neither of my first two books on my original list.
The first was The Ghost Map by Steven Johnson, which led me to write my first blog of the year. And now I have Between the World and Me by Ta-Nahisi Coates, which has given me a perspective on growing up, living and raising a son as a black man in America that I have never allowed myself to be exposed to before. After I finished I sent a note to my daughter's high school lit teacher suggesting she add it to the class reading list. It's a short read, and even better in the audio format as it's read by the author.
So the 2018 Reading List is done. I may refer back to it here and there, and there are a couple of books I do want to be sure to read this year. But I'll be back to roaming the aisles at the library, Read it Again, and Goodwill (a great place for cheap books).
